Lignières, Switzerland

Lignières is a village in Canton Neuchâtel, near the city of La Neuveville in Switzerland. The Swiss Alps on one side and the French Alps on the other provide a beautiful vista. This is the home of our ancestor families: Simon, Junod, Bonjour, Descombes, Gauchat and more. If you visit the rolling hills of Nemaha County, Kansas and then set foot in Lignières, you’ll see many similarities. There are grazing cows, sunflowers, family farms and friendly people.

A photograph of the last Simon to live in Lignières can be seen on the wall of the bar at l’Hôtel de Commune.

Our cousin, Nicolas Junod, has a wonderful website that will tell you much about Lignières and Neuchâtel. Click here for Lignières.

I have a Simon family connection from Saint Croix and Yverdon Les Bains Switzerland. Samuel Simon married Marie-Elise Cousin and their son Henri Simon who married Susan Harris and emigrated to Australia. Is there any connection that you know of with your Simon branch.
